New Dementia Guide from Royal College of Nursing

The Royal College of Nursing has launched a film and guide to help nursing staff care for people with dementia in hospital.

Dementia guide: commitment to the care of people with dementia in hospital settings

RCN Abstract: Dementia is a challenge for hospitals. Surveys show that around a quarter of hospital beds are occupied by somebody with dementia; a figure which increases in older people and individuals with a superimposed delirium. This important resource supports the further implementation of the RCN’s five principles for improving the quality of care for people with dementia and enabling the best possible support for their carers. This guide supplements the RCN’s film: Dementia: Commitment to the care of people with dementia in hospital settings.
